Round 4 Win

I took down round 4 of the Siomos Palace Home Tournament, which had eight runners. It was a bit of an up and down night hitting quad sevens in the second hand of the night with 73c in big blind, and then losing most of my chips a couple of levels later. Despite this, I never hit the felt and gradually built my stack to reasonable size when I played a crucial hand against two other all-ins.I had approx 4k in chips when JM pushed with AJo, I promptly pushed with KJc and JS called with KQo. There was approx 12-13k in the pot now. The board gave me two clubs and then a third club on the turn to give me the second nuts. The river bricked for everyone and gave me the nuts. I didn’t look back after that – it was nice getting on top early in the hand rather than having to sweat it to the river.

The final hand of the night between myself and SA had the blinds at 3k/6k. I was in big blind with Q5o – I figured that this would be a 50/50 hand heads up and decided to play it that way and try and see the board. To my delight SA called the extra 3k and I checked my option. The board came 4 6 7 giving me an open ended straight draw. I checked again to SA and he bet out 12k, which I called. A Q came on the turn and I carried on with the continuation bet and made it another 12k to go. SA thought for a second and shipped it all in. I didn’t think long about this action as I believed I was in the drivers seat with an open ender and top pair. I of course insta-called the all-in. Turns out that we both had the exact same chip count in the end.

SA showed T8o drawing to a 9 to complete his ten high straight or one of the three remaining fives for an eight high straight. I just had to dodge one of those seven cards.  A 4 on the river sealed the win win Queens and Fours.

Was quite happy with most of my play for the night, got a few good reads here and there and made a couple of good plays through out the night. Looking forward to the next game in May.
